"At last, an agency that listens to what is required rather than sifting through their books... the attention to detail and service has been truly excellent, and the four tutors we've employed have all been perfect for the job and actually delightful people too."
Conquering Iceland With a Pencil
Do you learn better from diagrams than words? Do you like to colour-code your notes? Do you doodle on your notes to remember them? If the answer to these is yes, chances are you prefer to learn things visually. Popular psychology likes to divide students into visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners, suggesting that they should be taught according to the style of whichever box they get placed in.
The bad news is that scientists treat this with as much skepticism as the theory that everyone is either right-brained or left-brained. They haven't found any evidence that students recall information significantly better when it's presented to them in their learning style. Whether they recall it better when the question is presented in a particular style is open for debate. Students do however express preferences for how they want to be taught, and this can be very useful for engaging and motivating them to learn.

HVT 11+ Autumn Courses 2014
Following the success of our Summer Course, Hampstead Village Tutors will be hosting two further 11+ Courses during October half term. This time the venue will be the picturesque Burgh House, in central Hampstead.
One course will run from Tuesday 21st to Friday 24th October, from 9.30-12.30 each morning. Another will run from Tuesday 28th to Friday 31st October, from 9.30-12.30 each morning.
HVT’s recent 11+ courses have been tremendously successful, with the pupils who attended gaining places at St. Paul’s, City, North London Collegiate, South Hampstead, Habs, Frances Holland, and Channing amongst others.
The course is suitable for all students sitting 11+ entrance exams this academic year, and also for boys who are preparing for any 13+ pre-tests that will take place in Year 6, including City School for Boys.
Sessions will cover English, Maths, Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning. They will also incorporate coaching in exam technique and interview skills, which will help your child to shine during their forthcoming assessments.
As part of the course, each child will have the opportunity to sit a timed paper in both English and Maths, and will be given detailed written feedback to take away.
Our focus will not only be on consolidating knowledge and exam technique, but also on encouraging the pupils and building their confidence before they face their first crucial set of exams. We will familiarise them with the style and content of the exam papers and help them to set goals for the rest of term.
The cost of the course is £240 for four mornings.
In order to book your place please call or email the office.
